What should a global citizen focus on to make their situation in Annawadi improve according to Behind the Beautiful Forevers?

The idea of global citizenship encourages each individual to think about their place in the world and their responsibilities toward the global community, not just to their own country. The concept includes the idea that every person on the planet is equally deserving and that those born into more affluent situations can, and should, do much to improve others’ situations. Many of the projects in which global citizens become involved are devoted toward eradicating poverty and creating better, and more sustainable, living conditions. The programs and projects that global citizens support range from the most basic resources, such as water and sanitation, to improving educational infrastructure and opportunities and reducing gender imbalances in access to education.
One key area of activism is clean water. Lack of clean water and widespread water pollution are two closely related problems in Annawaddi. Global citizens could work with nonprofit organizations to extend water into the neighborhood, such as through collective projects to lay pipe. Enlarging the supply of clean water can also mean boiling water to make it potable; use of solar stoves can greatly expand possibilities for affordable energy toward that purpose.
