What is computerization?

Computerization is the act of performing, processing, storing, or controlling through the use of an electronic computer. To computerize something is to essentially make it electronic. To computerize is to make use of computers.
A good example of computerization is when teachers take traditional classroom assignments and use computers instead of paper and pencil. Google Classroom is an example of teachers computerizing. Another example would be when, instead of using paper coupons, consumers have coupons loaded directly to their smart devices. Yet another example would be athletic programs using apps to record game stats instead of recording them on paper. If one says their workplace is being computerized, it means they are moving away from documentation on paper and toward electronic filing methods. Computerization can be considered environmentally friendly, as we are using far less paper than we would with traditional ways of doing things.


Computerization is essentially a conversion process. What it involves is taking an activity, task, or project (that is not initially digital) and converting it to something that can be done on a computer. In the current day and age, there are a multitude of tasks being computerized, allowing for simplicity and speed in libraries, small businesses, and more.
One example to demonstrate the meaning of computerization is taking place within the medical industry. Patient records, previously kept on paper, are now kept on computers in virtually every hospital and healthcare building. 
As humans living in a technologically-advanced world, we are able to computerize basically every aspect of our lives. Not only does this allow for better organization, but we are also utilizing less and less paper, which is environmentally friendly.

In “Goodbye to All That,” Joan Didion writes that the “lesson” of her story is that “it is distinctly possible to remain too long at the fair.” What does she mean? How does the final section of the essay portray how she came to this understanding, her feelings about it, and the consequences of it?

Why does the poet say "all the men and women merely players"?

It's one of the most famous lines in literature: All the world's a stage,And all the men and women merely players . . . This famous saying comes from Shakespeare's play As You Like It, and it's spoken by Jacques. What he's saying here is that simply going about our daily lives is a type of performance. Just like actors on a stage, we all have roles to perform: Daughter. Student. Sister. Captain of the soccer team. The fact that Shakespeare writes that men and women are merely players suggests that the roles are preordained and that a person's choice in being a mother, for example, or a doctor or starting point guard for the Brooklyn Nets is out of their hands.
